Three Essential Things To Do in Costa Rica in 2022

Three Essential Things To Do in Costa Rica in 2022

If one of your dreams is to travel and experience a few days of adventure in an exotic land, we recommend these 3 incredible places to visit in the Central Pacific region of Costa Rica.

Tortuga Island

Tortuga Island

World famous, Tortuga Island is actually a group of islands located off the southeast coast of the Nicoya Peninsula. With almost 120 hectares, it has become one of the most fascinating refuges for flora and fauna in the tourist area of Costa Rica, especially due to the fact that it is surrounded by crystal clear, warm waters and beautiful white sand beaches.

Although there are no accommodations available on the island itself, as it is an uninhabited island, you can visit it on day trips and venture out to do many activities such as banana boat rides, hiking, paddle boarding, and kayaking, among other things.

We arrive to the Island on Costa Cat I, a luxury catamaran with an interior cabin and air conditioning, which sets sail from Los Sueños Marina & Resort, in Playa Herradura, just 1 ½ hours driving from the capital city, San José.

Our crew will take care of everything you need  for the day in terms of food. We serve a light breakfast on the 45-minute cruise to the island, a buffet-style lunch after you’ve enjoyed the morning activities, and delicious drinks like Rum Punch or Margaritas all day long.

In general, the temperature is always very pleasant on Tortuga Island, with an average of 27º C. We invite you to use the link below to check out how the weather will be for your upcoming trip.

Ruins inside San Lucas Island – Costa Rica

San Lucas Island

Another proposal to make your adventurous dreams a reality, San Lucas Island.

San Lucas Island Wildlife Refuge is the perfect combination of nature, culture, history and adventure. This site, which had been up and running for 117 years, was one of the most severe detention centers in the country and was closed in 1991. This is the reason why it is also known as “The Island of Lonely Men” in reference to the autobiographical book by the novelist José León Sanchez, who spent more than a decade locked up there.

San Lucas was declared an architectural interest in 1995 and in 2001 as a Refuge, however it took almost 20 more years for tourism to gain access, thus becoming the best kept treasure in the entire Pacific of Costa Rica.

Snorkeling in Costa Rica

Practice Snorkeling in Costa Rica

Not only because of the wonderful biodiversity of the country, but also because of the pleasant temperature of its waters. You don’t need wetsuits to stop the cold, just your swimsuit and dry clothes to change into afterwards.

On our Tortuga Island Tour, we provide you with a mask so you can dive in and discover the best places to dive. The activity has no additional cost and we recommend it for beginners, due to its shallow depth and good visibility.
