¿Qué son los catamaranes?

Los catamaranes son un tipo de embarcación con dos cascos paralelos, que proporcionan estabilidad al barco y requieren menos potencia del motor. El resultado es una navegación suave, con menos movimientos inducidos por las olas. El catamarán tiene menos calado que las embarcaciones monocasco, por lo que la parte de la embarcación que queda bajo el agua es menor. Esto permite al capitán acercar la embarcación a la orilla para un desembarco más tranquilo.

Actualmente disponemos de dos catamaranes, el Costa Cat I y el Costa Cat II. Estas embarcaciones costarricenses fueron construidas para cumplir con las especificaciones de seguridad de la USCG (Guardacostas de EE.UU.), y están totalmente aseguradas. Nuestra flota cumple con todos los requisitos de Costa Rica, incluyendo el MOPT y la Declaración Turística del ICT.

Nuestro catamarán de lujo

En 2016, el capitán Jim Kitchell y su hermano Joe con Kitchell Boat Works comenzaron a ofrecer tours en nuestro lujoso catamarán de 55 pies diseñado a medida, el Costa Cat I.

Costa Cat I tiene cómodos asientos para 40 pasajeros dentro de la cabina con aire acondicionado, así como amplios asientos al aire libre para aquellos que quieran disfrutar del sol y la brisa del mar mientras cruzamos la bahía a la Isla Tortuga. Nuestro catamarán premier puede acomodar hasta 70 invitados y tiene comodidades que incluyen dos baños a bordo.

El Costa Cat I está disponible para nuestras excursiones públicas y la mayoría de las privadas.

We had a an amazing Captain, Gio, who made the ride enjoyable. Also the crew members Aron, Cesar and Joshua along with Gio, took great care of us on the boat and on the island, making sure we were informed about the excursions, had drinks and food. The island was beautiful and equipped with everything we needed. It was a blast! Highly recommend.

The crew was absolutely incredible, each member introduced themselves, remembered guest names throughout the day, and truly treated everyone like family while making sure every need was met. The snorkeling, banana boat, and hike were such fun additions, and the views were breathtaking with crystal clear water everywhere you looked. They picked us up at our hotel in Jaco around 8:00…dropped us off at 5:00.  20 min drive to marina.  Cruising on the catamaran at 9:00.  Muffins, fruit & coffee served as soon as we got on board.  Aaron led a crew of servers who just didn’t stop all-day.  What hard working guys!!!  45 min cruise to Tortuga Island where beach chairs and umbrellas are waiting for you.  Snorkeling (equipment provided), banana boat, swimming, hike, incredible buffet lunch.  Do what you want.  Just chill if you don’t want.  Back on the boat at 3:30.  We did this on our first full-day in Jaco and it was a great post-travel, get-into-vacation-mode day!!!  5*s for Costa Cat!!!!

 Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. We took the catamaran to Tortuga Island to snorkel. This was part of our 50th wedding anniversary. The crew was very helpful and attentive to us. Breakfast was a nice muffin and fresh fruit. The lunch was delicious: grilled chicken, rice, potatoes, green salad, coleslaw, chips and salsa. Chocolates for dessert. They had mango punch, ginger ale and other options for those of us that don’t drink alcohol. We felt safe snorkeling, they feed the fish so there were dozens of multicolored fish greeting us as soon as we were in the water. The crew always helped us on and off of the boats. We decided to just enjoy the beach chairs, umbrella and beautiful scenery rather than go on the banana boat or hike. It was warm and lovely.

 Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. We did a 1/2 day sunset tour to Tortuga Island. We snorkeled, swam, hiked, and relaxed. The boat captain pointed out whales and dolphins swimming nearby, during the trip to and from the island. The crew made the 45min ride so fun. Their service on the boat and off on the island was exceptional, serving lunch and drinks throughout. The snorkeling stop included plenty of tropical fish sightings, along with some fun jumping off the boat and using the waterside, which our kids loved. We watched the sunset during the return trip to the main land, which was absolutely beautiful.

 Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. If you are looking to go to Isla Tortuga this is the tour company to use. They are super nice and very attentive. They think of everything like pouring water down the ramp so you don't bring sand onto the boat or on your feet. They also have great margaritas and jungle juice. We noticed other tours there and they were okay but we could tell we had the best. Josue/Bones was awesome, he has an amazing attitude and super interesting. Willburt is also the man. I highly recommend. It is well worth the extra money

Really outstanding service by Brandon and the rest of the crew.  The food and drinks on the island were fabulous, and the scenery was spectacular.   We were all so impressed.  Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. We had the greatest day in Tortuga Island thanks to Costa Cat and the whole crew. Everything was perfect, since the welcoming in the marina to the meals and tours provided. We knew we’re up to a good tour when the crew made sure to know everyone’s names (although a simple gesture, but makes a great difference) and that everyone was alright every step of the way. Also, Aaron and the crew guys were great to chat and get to know more from Costa Rican culture. We can’t thank you enough! Pura vida!
