COSTA CAT I

The Luxury Catamaran

What are catamarans?

Catamarans are a type of watercraft with two parallel hulls, which provide the ship with stability, requiring less power from the engine. This results in a smooth ride, with less wave-induced movements. The Catamaran has a shallower draft than monohull vessels; hence having less of the boat below water. This allows the captain to pull the boat up to the shore for a calmer disembarkment.

We currently have two Catamarans, Costa Cat I and Costa Cat II. These Costa Rican vessels were built to meet USCG(U.S Coast Guards) safety specifications, and are fully insured. Our fleet complies with all Costa Rican requirements, including MOPT and ICT Tourist Declaration.

Our Luxury Catamaran

In 2016, Captain Jim Kitchell and his brother Joe with Kitchell Boat Works began offering tours on our luxury custom-designed 55ft Catamaran, the Costa Cat I.

Costa Cat I has comfortable seating for 40 passengers inside the air conditioned cabin, as well as ample outdoor seating for those who would like to enjoy the sunshine and sea breeze as we cross the bay to Tortuga Island. Our premiere catamaran can accommodate up to 70 guests and has amenities that include two onboard bathrooms.

Costa Cat I is available for our public and most private tours.
